Google has reportedly started rolling out a battery charging limit feature for Android 15 devices. This feature will let users limit charging once their handset reaches 80 percent capacity, which should help with battery capacity retention.
We expected the feature to arrive in December in Android 15 QPR1, but devices are already starting to receive it.
Telegram user @SlimRock shared images of the new feature, showcasing a ‘Limit to 80 percent’ function on a stable version of Android 15. Android Authority suggests that this is a server-side update to the Settings app, as they downloaded the latest update and they don’t have this feature.
This feature was first reported back in July.
Charging devices to 100 percent can reduce the battery lifespan over time. Google’s Adaptive Charging should already help retain battery life, as it only charges to 100 percent before you usually unplug in the morning; however, this isn’t a foolproof feature.
